The State Archives of Public Organizations of Gomel Region took part in the dialogue platform “Preservation of Historical Memory as a Factor of Strengthening the Belarusian State”

On 5 April 2022, Blaise Pascal Gymnasium No 46 in Gomel hosted a dialogue platform “Preservation of Historical Memory as a Factor of Strengthening the Belarusian State”.

The experts were:

Svetlana Kukhareva, Head of Education Department of the Gomel City Executive Committee; Svetlana Aminova, Head of Education, Sports and Tourism Department of Sovetsky District Administration of Gomel; Yuri Bulynko, Prosecutor of Gomel; Konstantin Mishchenko, Deputy Director of the Gomel Regional Museum of Military Glory; Pavel Denisenko, Head of the Search Team of the Gomel Cadet School; Natalia Abramova, Director of the State Archives of Public Organizations of Gomel Region; Elena Zvegentseva, Director of the Republican Technical Laboratory for Microfilming of Security Records in Gomel; Alla Sviridova, Chairperson of the Organization of Sovetsky District of Gomel, Belarusian Association of Veterans.

The participants of the dialogue platform were deputy directors for educational work, heads of military-patriotic education, teachers of history and heads of school museums.

Yury Bulynko showed a multimedia presentation about search activities on the example of estimated burial sites of the victims of the genocide in Gomel. He noted that school museums play important role in patriotic education of the younger generation, helping to form respect for history and cherish national memory among students.

Natalya Abramova spoke about the documents stored in the archive on the topic “Genocide of the population of Gomel during the Great Patriotic War and the postwar period”. She dwelled on the procedure of work of the users in the reading room of the archives.

She proposed the forms of cooperation with educational institutions in the sphere of teaching and patriotic education of youth.

Heads of military-patriotic education and school museums shared their experience in involving students in the creation of museum expositions and history corners.
