Director of the State Archives of Gomel Region Andrei Suschevich took part in the event “Khatyn – a symbol of eternal memory and sorrow of the Belarusian people”

On 22 March 2022, Director of the State Archives of Gomel Region Andrei Suschevich took part in the event “Khatyn – a symbol of eternal memory and sorrow of the Belarusian people”.

The event was dedicated to the tragic event in the history of our country – the burning of the Belarusian village of Khatyn by the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War. The event was attended by the administration of the Novobelitsky district.

An exhibition “By the roads of burned villages”, the action “White cranes of memory” and an exhibition of drawings “Time is powerless if memory meets” were organised for schoolchildren at the cinema hall “Mir”.

Speaking to the schoolchildren, Andrey Suschevich noted the importance of preserving and perpetuating the memory of the history of the Great Patriotic War. In addition, the Director of the Archives told the pupils that the tragic fate of the village Khatyn of Logoisk district, Minsk region, burned on March 22, 1943, which undoubtedly became a symbol of tragedy of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War, was shared by thousands of Belarusian villages and hamlets.

At the end of the solemn event, a feature film “The Witnesses” was shown for schoolchildren and invited guests.
