Documents from Belarusian archives were added to the Internet project “Crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices against the civilian population of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945”

On June 22, 2021, the day of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the archival Internet project “Crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices against the civilian population of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” expanded with documentary materials from the holdings of Belarusian archives.

The archival institutions of the Republic of Belarus participate in the Internet project at the invitation of the organizer – the Federal Archival Agency of the Russian Federation.

The subsection dedicated to the Belarusian SSR contains documents from the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings, the Belarusian State Archives of Scientific and Technical Documentation, the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art, and the state archives of the Gomel, Grodno, Brest, Vitebsk, Minsk and Mogilev regions.

More than 570 digital copies of documents are available in the public domain, including acts of city and district commissions for the investigation of Nazi crimes, reports of partisan brigades about the atrocities committed by the German occupiers, reports on the burning of settlements by the executioners, photo documents, posters, illustrations, letters from eyewitnesses with memories of the events in the occupied territory, etc.
