During the meeting the new students were told about the profession of an archivist, the work of state archival institutions in the Republic of Belarus and the future perspectives.
On 1 September 2015 a meeting was held at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus between Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry V.I. Adamushko and Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus V.I. Kurash with Mr. D. Frolov. The sides signed the Agreement for cooperation between the Archives Department of Belarus and the National Archives of Finland and discussed issues of further development of bilateral relations in the field of archives and perspectives of joint archival projects. Professor D. Frolov will acquaint with activities of central state archives in Belarus and the State Archives of Vitebsk Region.
Among the participants at the round table was Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry, Mr. Adamushko, who delivered a report “Documents on the history of the United Nations at the state archives of the Republic of Belarus”.
The round table was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945.
Belarusian archivists acquainted their Russian colleagues with a new collection of published documents “Gomel Region in 1943-1953: Documents and Materials”. The book has been prepared by the State Archives of Public Organisations of Gomel Region in collaboration with the State Archives of Gomel Region and the Local State Archives in Mozyr. The book offers 134 documents, most of which have been published for the first time. The book is illustrated with photographs selected from the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings, the State Archives of Public Organisations of Gomel Region, the Gomel Palace and Park Ensemble State Historical Cultural Institution and Newspaper Gomelskaya Prauda.
The archivists from Bryansk Region (Russia) told of their documentary research into the memorial complex in the area of the former village of Rechechka, Klintsy district, Bryansk region – analogue of Belarusian Khatyn.
During the retreat on 23 September 1943 the Nazi invaders executed and burned all residents in the village of Rechechka, including babies and old men. The symbolic concrete doorways have been installed on the site of former houses in the destructed village. The plates on the door posts show the name and age of everyone who once lived there.
As part of the archival event the guests were shown the sights of Vetka and visited the Shklyarov Museum of Old Belief and Belarusian Traditions in Vetka.

The historical sources, most part of which have been published for the first time, cover approximately one hundred years of the events extremely important for the destiny of Belarusian archives and mark a complicated but dynamic transference from the departmental autonomy and the lack of system to the modern foundations of the archive business.

Attendees at the official meeting dedicated to the perspectives of cooperation between archival and museum institutions in Belarus and Poland were Director of the National Historical Archives of Belarus D. Yatsevich, Director of the Museum of King John III’s Palace at Wilanow P. Jaskanis, Deputy Director General of State Archives of Poland A. Bernat, Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland D. Januszewska-Jakubiak, Director of the Centre of Belarusian Culture at the Belarusian Embassy to Poland E. Shvaika and more.
The meeting resulted in signing a long-term agreement between the Archives and the Museum on cooperation in the field of research of the documentary heritage of the Sobieski family, which is held at the National Historical Archives of Belarus in the Fond “The Sobieski Archives at Olawa”. Belarusian archivists presented their Polish colleagues with the latest archive publications and acquainted with the practices of the museum’s exhibition and publication activities.
The delegation also visited the Belarusian Embassy in Poland and met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Poland A. Averyanov.
The event included a joint board meeting of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Republic of Belarus and the Federal Archival Agency of the Russian Federation. The board meeting discussed issues of “Practices of the Belarusian and Russian archive services in making lists of records creating organizations, sources of records acquisition for the state archives in the Republic of Belarus and the federal archives in the Russian Federation” and “The plan of joint actions of the Department for Archives and Records Management of Belarus and the Federal Archival Agency of Russia for 2014-2016”.
During the meeting the participants acquainted with the work of the National Historical Archives of Belarus in Grodno and the State Archives of Grodno Region.
The conference included the exchange of practices in the field of archival science and historical editing, defined the ways of further cooperation.
