15 June 2016
On 14 June 2016 Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Adamushko met with Director of International Archival Programs Division of the Holocaust Memorial Museum (Washington, USA) Radu Ioanid and the Division’s Project Director Vadim Altskan.

The parties informed each other about the activities of the state archives in the Republic of Belarus and the Holocaust Memorial Museum in covering the history of the Holocaust.

The meeting resulted in signing the Agreement of Cooperation between the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Republic of Belarus and the Holocaust Memorial Museum. The signing ceremony was attended by Charge D’Affaires of the USA in Belarus Mr. Scott Roland.

The Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War has conducted international historical readings on 75th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War “Belarus in Defensive Actions in 1941”.

Mr. V. Adamushko, Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry delivered a report “Documents of the National Archival Holdings of the Republic of Belarus and the publications of the state archives on the history of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945”.

On the International Archives Day on June 9 the State Archives of Grodno Region held a presentation of the compendium of documents “The Grodno Orthodox Eparchy 1921-1939. Documents and Materials”.

On 31 May 2016 the Chief of the State Policy in Archive Business at the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ms. Gulzira Karsakbaeva handed over to the Belarusian side in Minsk the copies of archival records available from the Central State Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan. These documents relate to the history of the Belarusian State Theatre of Drama (now the National Academic Drama Theatre named after Yakub Kolas) who during the Second World War worked in Kazakhstan and the life of the People’s Artist of the USSR Larisa Laksanrovskaya in evacuation in Almaty.

The documents have been selected in accordance with the previous agreements between the Director of the Belarusian Department for Archives and Records Management V. Adamushko together with the Director of the Belarusian Archives of Literature and Art G. Zapartyko and the General Director of the Central State Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan L. Aktayeva.

On 3 June 2016 the Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry of Belarus V. Adamushko and Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus V. Kurash held a meeting in Minsk with the delegation of the Head Office of State Archives of Poland headed by General Director Wojciech Wozniak.

The sides discussed the issues of cooperation between the two countries in the field of archives. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Belarus Konrad Pawlik took part in the meeting.

On 3 June 2016 the Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry of Belarus V. Adamushko held a meeting in Minsk with Director of the National Archives of Armenia A. Virabyan.

The two sides discussed the issues of cooperation between the two countries in the field of archives.

01 June 2016
On 1 June 2016 in Minsk the acting director of the State Archives of the Russian Federation L.A. Rogovaya handed over to the Belarusian side digital copies of records created by the Extraordinary State Commission for the Investigation of Nazi Crimes in Belarus available from the Archive’s holdings.

Participants at the ceremony were Mr. V. Adamushko, Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and Mr. A. Artizov, Head of the Federal Archival Agency of the Russian Federation.

01 June 2016
On 31 May 2016 Minsk hosted the 17th General Conference of the Eurasian regional branch of the International Council on Archives (EURASICA) and a regular session of the Consultative Council of the heads of the state archival services of the CIS member countries.

The EURASICA session discussed the issues of implementing the Plan of Action of the ICA Eurasian branch for 2013-2016, the Plan of Action for 2017-2020, the 18th International Congress of Archives in Seoul etc.

Participants at the EURASICA Conference were delegations from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Russia and Uzbekistan. Delegations from China, Latvia and Lithuania took part as observers.

The international scholarly conference “Archives in the world of information technologies” is held on 1 June 2016 as part of the 17th General Conference.

The Consultative Council of the heads of the state archival services of CIS countries discussed the issues of the development of archive business in CIS countries in 2015-1016, the inventory of the legal contract basis in the sphere of the Consultative Council, the activities of the All-Russian Research Institute of Documentation and Archival Science as a basic institution for professional training in archives and records management in CIS countries etc.

The Consultative Council brought together heads and members of the state archival services from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

Mr. V. Adamushko, Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry of the Republic of Belarus has been elected Chairman of the Consultative Council.

The next sessions of the EURASICA and the Consultative Council of the heads of the state archival services of CIS countries will take place in Autumn 2017 in Armenia.

From 24 to 26 May 2016 the Republic of Belarus hosted a visit by the state heraldists of Georgia. .As part of the visit, the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry of the Republic of Belarus held a meeting between the Belarusian and Georgian heraldists. Participants at the meeting were Mr. V. Adamushko, Director of the Belarusian Department for Archives and Records Management, Deputy Chairman of the Heraldry Council under the President of Belarus and the Council’s members M. Elinskaya and V. Lyakhor. The Georgian side was represented by Mr. Mamuka Gongadze, Deputy Chairman of the State Council of Heraldry at the Parliament of Georgia and Mrs. Victoria Sardjveladze, Head of the Administration and Finance Office.

During the meeting the colleagues informed about the activities of the Heraldry Councils in both countries, the history of their creation, principles of work and the results achieved in the area of heraldry in Belarus and Georgia. They also discussed the features and principles of the official heraldic examination, the procedure of establishing symbols and their use, and the perspectives of future cooperation.



26 May 2016
On 24 May the State Archives of Grodno Region hosted a creative delegation from Cheboksary, Russia. The delegation was headed by Vladimir A. Vasilyev, a film producer, script writer, Doctor of Culturology, Ph.D. in History, Professor at the Ulyanov State University of Chuvashia. The purpose of the visit is to make a TV documentary film about the underground anti-fascist organization led by Nikolay Volkov, known as “uncle Kolya’s group”, who fought against the enemy in the city of Grodno during the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945.

The Archive’s staff presented documents from the personal collection of Alexander Pleshevenya: photographs, reminiscences, letters, articles about the activities of Nikolay Volkov’s antifascist group.

The presentation of the film is scheduled to take place in September in Grodno.
