About the site

The Archives of Belarus website is an information resource of the archives and records management authorities and the state archives network in the Republic of Belarus.

The website contains information on the central, regional and local state archives and institutions and their services. There is information on genealogy, archival publications, legislation, and professional training.

The basic guidance for multiple records of the National Archival Holdings of the Republic of Belarus is provided in archival directories.

An important part of the website are subject guides to archival records on various aspects of the history and culture of Belarus. The guides contain lists of records, online exhibitions, summaries of archival publications, general information on research topics. The selected topics include the Great Patriotic War (the Second World War in the Soviet Union 1941-1945), the First World War, the War of 1812, the Insurrection of 1863-1864, the Culture of Belarus (architecture of churches, castles, palaces etc.), Famous People of Belarus (Ignaсy Domeyko, Napoleon Orda, Vintsent Dunin-Martsinkevich, Yefim Karsky, Yanka Kupala, Yakub Kolas, Maksim Bogdanovich, Boris Kit, Vladimir Korotkevich) etc.

A special piece of information are the materials of the UNESCO project “Documentary Heritage of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth/Rzeczpospolita”, which describe the archival and manuscript collections of the Commonwealth held in archives and libraries in many European countries (Belarus, Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Russia, Germany, Austria, France, Sweden, Finland).
