The National Archives of the Republic of Belarus acted as a co-organizer of the International Scholarly Conference “The Great Patriotic War in the Fate of the Belarusian People”
On April 23, 2020, the International Scholarly Conference “The Great Patriotic War in the Fate of the Belarusian People” was held to mark the 75th anniversary of the Victory. The official co-organizers of this scholarly forum included the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (NARB).
The ceremonial opening and plenary meeting was held in the format of online video conference. In the framework of the plenary session, Director of the NARB A.K. Demyanyuk made a report “Activities of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus in the preservation of the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War”.
The work of the conference sections was organized in absentia format. NARB staff members presented their reports: “Handling of requests for documents of the period of the Great Patriotic War: from the experience of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus” (T.N. Ageenko, researcher at the documents and information use department); “Activities of the North-Western Group under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Bolsheviks and the Council of People’s Commissars of the BSSR, March – September 1942” (S.V. Kulinok, deputy head of the publication department, candidate of historical sciences); “The use of seals in the paperwork of the Belarusian Headquarters of the Partisan Movement, 1942-1944” (M.M. Skomoroshchenko, head of the publications department).
